Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies PivotHero uses, why each one is used, and how you may exercise control over the non-essential categories. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which addresses the broader handling of personal data.

What is a cookie, and why does PivotHero use them?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device via your browser. Cookies allow a website to recognise your browser between requests, which is what makes it possible to remain logged in, to retain security protections across a multi-step form, and, where permitted, to understand how a site is used or to present relevant advertising. PivotHero uses cookies for each of these purposes, categorised below.

Which cookies does PivotHero classify as essential?

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to operate and cannot be disabled through our cookie preference centre, since doing so would prevent the Service from functioning correctly. These include a session cookie that keeps you logged in, a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) token that protects forms from a category of security attack, and, if you select 'remember me' at login, a long-lived authentication token. None of PivotHero's essential cookies are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Does PivotHero use analytics cookies to track visitors?

If you consent to the analytics category, PivotHero loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies to help us understand aggregate usage patterns, such as which pages are viewed most often and how visitors typically navigate the site. Analytics cookies are not loaded, and no analytics script is requested from Google, until you affirmatively opt in. If you decline or later withdraw consent, this category is not active, and no analytics cookie is set for the remainder of your visit.

Does PivotHero use advertising cookies, and how do I opt out?

If you consent to the advertising category, PivotHero loads Google AdSense, which may set cookies to serve and measure advertising, potentially including advertising personalised to your browsing activity across sites that use Google's advertising services. As with analytics, this script is not requested from Google until you consent. You may decline this category, or withdraw consent at any time, using 'Cookie settings' in the site footer. For controls that apply across all sites that use Google's advertising services, not only PivotHero, see Google's own Ads Settings.

Am I prompted to accept or reject cookies before using PivotHero?

Yes. On your first visit, PivotHero displays a cookie banner offering three choices: accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or open a preference centre to choose analytics and advertising cookies individually. Essential cookies remain active regardless of your choice, since the Service cannot function without them; no analytics or advertising cookie is set, and no corresponding third-party script is loaded, until you make an affirmative choice to allow that category.

How do I change my cookie preferences after my first visit?

Select 'Cookie settings' in the footer of any page at any time to reopen the preference centre and change your analytics and advertising choices. Updated preferences take effect immediately: if you withdraw consent for a category, the corresponding script is no longer loaded on subsequent page views. You may also manage or delete cookies directly through your browser's settings, though doing so for essential cookies may prevent you from remaining logged in.

How long do PivotHero's cookies last?

The session cookie expires when you close your browser. The CSRF token cookie lasts for the duration of your session. The 'remember me' authentication cookie, where selected, lasts up to 30 days. The cookie recording your consent preferences is retained for up to 180 days, after which you will be prompted again. Analytics and advertising cookies, where active, follow the retention periods set by Google, details of which are available in Google's own privacy documentation.
